Most residential driveways take 1–2 days on site — excavation, boxing and pour on day one, finishing and joint cutting to follow.
Drive-On Time
Walk on it after 24–48 hours, drive on it after about 7 days, and avoid heavy loads for the first 28 days while it cures.

A properly poured, reinforced driveway lasts 30–50 years — a solid sub-base, steel mesh and clean joints are what make it last.
What Affects Concrete Driveway Cost?
No two driveways cost exactly the same. Here's what pushes the price up or down — in plain terms, no fluff.
Size & Shape of the Driveway
Bigger driveways cost more in total, but the per-square-metre rate often drops a little because fixed costs — site set-up, boxing, a minimum concrete load — spread across more area. A long, narrow driveway or an awkward shape with lots of cuts and angles takes more time and formwork than a simple rectangle, which pushes the price up.
Ground Conditions & Prep Work
What's under the existing surface matters. Soft, wet or poorly drained ground needs extra sub-base material and compaction before we can pour. If there's an old concrete or asphalt driveway to break out, cart away and tip, that's added cost — good contractors quote it upfront rather than hiding it. A solid sub-base is non-negotiable; skip it and the driveway will dip and crack.
Finish Chosen
Plain broom finish is the most affordable — cost-effective, slip-resistant and hard-wearing. Exposed aggregate costs more because of the extra material and the washing and finishing time, but it looks premium and lasts decades. Texture roll adds consistent grip for a modern look, and stencilled finishes give a bespoke patterned appearance at the higher end of the range.
Access for Equipment
If a concrete truck can't get close to the pour, we may need a pump — and pump hire is an additional cost. Tight side access, a steep slope, or a long carry from the truck to the back of a property all add labour and time. Easy street access with room to work keeps the price down.
