How much does a concrete driveway cost in NZ?
Most residential concrete driveways in New Zealand land roughly between $90 and $170 per square metre fully installed, depending on size, finish, site access and ground conditions. A standard single driveway sits around $2,700–$5,100; a larger double driveway from roughly $5,400–$10,200. The only way to know your exact price is a free on-site measure.
How long does a concrete driveway take to install?
Most residential driveways take one to two days on site — one day for excavation, boxing and the pour, then finishing and joint cutting. Concrete reaches full strength over around 28 days.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You can walk on it after 24–48 hours, but wait around 7 days before driving a vehicle on it, and avoid heavy loads for the first 28 days while it reaches full strength.
How long does a concrete driveway last?
A properly poured and reinforced concrete driveway will easily last 30–50 years. The keys are a solid sub-base, steel mesh reinforcement, correct fall for drainage and well-placed control joints.
What finish options do I have?
Plain broom finish is the cost-effective, slip-resistant default; exposed aggregate is more decorative and harder-wearing; texture roll adds consistent grip; and stencilled finishes give a bespoke patterned look. We'll show you samples and recommend the best fit.
Do you remove the old driveway before pouring the new one?
Yes. We handle the full job — breaking out and carting away the existing concrete or asphalt, excavating to the right depth and prepping the sub-base before we pour.
