How much does a concrete patio cost in NZ?
Most residential concrete patios in New Zealand land roughly between $90 and $170 per square metre fully installed, depending on size, finish, site access and ground conditions. A plain finish is the most affordable option, while exposed aggregate and stencilled finishes sit at the higher end. The only way to know your exact price is a free on-site measure.
How long does a concrete patio take to install?
Most residential patios take one to two days on site — one day for excavation, boxing and the pour, then finishing and joint cutting. Concrete reaches full strength over around 28 days, but you can typically walk on it after 24–48 hours.
How do you handle drainage and slope on a patio?
Every patio is graded with a subtle fall — usually away from the house — so rainwater sheds off the surface instead of pooling. We set the levels during boxing so water runs where it should, keeping the patio usable year-round and protecting your home's foundations.
What finish options do I have for a patio?
Plain trowel or broom finish is the cost-effective, clean default; exposed aggregate is more decorative and harder-wearing; texture roll adds consistent grip; and stencilled finishes give a bespoke patterned look. We'll show you samples and recommend the best fit for your home.
How long does a concrete patio last?
A properly poured and reinforced concrete patio will easily last 30–50 years. The keys are a solid sub-base, steel mesh reinforcement, correct fall for drainage and well-placed control joints to keep any cracking controlled.
Does a concrete patio need much maintenance?
Very little. A quick sweep and occasional wash keeps it looking sharp. We recommend sealing exposed aggregate and coloured patios to protect against stains and weathering — we can arrange sealing as part of the job or advise on timing.
